The Buddhist New Year or Mahayana Buddhism New Year is celebrated around the full moon of January. People in Tibet celebrate on the full moon of February. In some other countries, it is celebrated on the full moon of April. During the celebration, the Mahayana Buddhists honour and pray to their deities, particularly Buddha. They also visit the temples to light up candles to bring happiness and good luck for the coming year. Other activities include bathing the Buddha, singing religious songs and meditation. On this day, the Buddhists reflect on their situation in the previous year, identify the faults and wrong decisions they have made and try to make things right with a New Year’s resolution.  They also believe that this is the best time for them to buy new items, cleaning and redecorating their homes and giving charity and gifts to bring good luck.
