Located about 30 km north of Kuantan on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia lies Cherating. Cherating used to be a small fishing village. It is now a popular beach resort in Pahang.

The main draw to Cherating beach are its white sands, clear blue waters and casuarina trees. The months between November and March are great for surfing as these times surfers can ride on the big waves. The other months are usually reserved for lesser heart pounding sports such as kayaking, swimming and yatching.
Between the months of May and September, tourists are able to get the chance to watch giant leatherback turtles nest and lay their eggs. The Turtle Sanctuary is just a few minutes’ walk away from the beach. Here we get to learn the conservation work and promote awareness of the endangered sea creature.
Do visit the nearby Kuantan Handicraft Complex in Cherating Village to appreciate some of the local crafts in store.
